Former "Barcelona" president S. Rosell arrested on money laundering charges

Former Barcelona club president Sandro Rosell, who is 53 years old, was detained on Tuesday by special services - he faces charges of money laundering.

According to the Spanish media, S. Rosell, along with the president of the Brazilian Football Confederation, Ricardo Teixeira, got caught in an international investigation of financial crimes in Spain and Brazil for illegal activities.

As reported in the press, it is suspected that S. Rosell committed fraud between 2008-2010 by organizing friendly matches for the Brazilian national team.

At that time, "Ailanto Marketing," controlled by S. Rosell, had the right to organize friendly matches for the Brazilian national team. It is reported that the Spaniard received huge commissions from the sale of these rights. All illegally acquired money was hidden in tax havens in certain countries.

It is said that the FTB is investigating this case. The Barcelona police conducted raids at both S. Rosell's home and offices. His wife was also detained along with him.

S. Rosell resigned from the position of Barcelona club president in early 2014. He was pushed to leave these positions due to the ongoing case regarding Neymar's transfer to Barcelona from Santos. The former president of the Catalan club is accused of tax evasion in connection with the deal between the clubs.
