Former "Barcelona" president: "There is nothing left of our style and academy"

Former "Barcelona" president Joan Laporta claims that the current club's sports model is increasingly moving away from Johan Cruyff's philosophy, which worked so flawlessly for him when he was in charge.

The current "Barcelona" often faces critical views from their own fans. Most argue that Ernesto Valverde is not suitable to lead this team, but current president Josep Bartomeu has expressed full confidence in this coach.

"Barcelona" is moving away from their style, which Cruyff first implemented in our club," said J. Laporta. "He is the father of this style and the man who made us champions. This season we had a season that showed that we are already far from this style."

We do not have a clear strategy, there is no project, and "La Masia" (the club's academy) is completely abandoned. This is a scary thing. We need to change as quickly as possible.

The only way we can get out of this situation is to completely change our perspective and start a new phase. We are losing years that could be marked by glory. We are satisfied with the results, although they do not meet our expectations," continued the former "Barça" president.

J. Laporta also added that the lack of a clear strategy is to blame for the recent failures in the UEFA Champions League.

"You cannot give Messi more responsibility than he actually deserves. Leo gives everything and we can only thank him for where we have been in recent years.

He needs a team that shines in global football. It's a shame that we are in the current situation with such players. Everything is because we forgot our true style.

The proof of this is the Champions League, where being yourself will not win you anything," added J. Laporta.
