Former Cameroon national team coach Winfried Schafer revealed how he motivated the famous football player Samuel Eto'o in the national team. The experienced German often noticed that the forward did not give his all in training, as he felt significantly superior to his opponents. Before the 2002 African Nations Cup tournament, W. Schafer called up the then "Mallorca" player and said to him: "Samuel, imagine that in three years someone is saying: 'Eto'o was considered a talented player, but where is he now?' Would you really want people to say that?" According to the coach, the striker nodded his head and started to train seriously. "I think he is still grateful to me for these words," said W. Schafer.
