Alvaro Morata made a great debut in London's "Chelsea" colors, but former defender of that club Graeme Le Saux believes that during the transfer window, at least in the short term, "Manchester United" stood out more.
Both English giants were actively looking for reinforcement in the attack, and the "Red Devils" eventually chose Romelu Lukaku over the Spaniard, when the latter was linked with "Chelsea".
However, now the Belgian is wearing the red jersey and started the "Premier" league season by scoring four goals.
"Alvaro Morata shone in those two matches (against "Everton" and "Leicester City" - ed. note) by scoring a goal in each," Le Saux told Betfair.
"Chelsea" undoubtedly tried to acquire Romelu Lukaku in the summer and they failed, but Morata certainly does enough to justify his price tag."
"At this moment, Lukaku might be the better striker in terms of goals scored, but Morata has huge potential."
"His movement is exceptional and he offers a different threat than his predecessor in the "Chelsea" colors Diego Costa, who terrorized "Arsenal" in recent seasons. He likes to drift away from players and fight for spaces where he can cause damage."
"Some doubted in the summer whether he can score in the "Premier" league, but he has already proven them wrong, which should delight everyone gathered at "Stamford Bridge".
Morata joined "Chelsea" from Madrid's "Real" this summer for 62 million euros."
