Former French national team coach M. Hidalgo has passed away

On Thursday, former head coach of the French national football team Michel Hidalgo passed away at the age of 87. This was announced by the television channel "France Info".

M. Hidalgo passed away at his home in Marseille surrounded by his loved ones. The cause of death, according to relatives, was stated to be a "natural decline". The children insisted that the coronavirus was not to blame for the death of the legendary coach.

It is said that the coach could not recover from the death of his best friend, one of the country's most famous footballers, Raymond Kopa. He passed away in 2017 at the age of 86.

Having played for the football teams "Reims", "Havre", and "Monaco", M. Hidalgo ended his career in 1966. He led the French national team from 1976 to 1984 and led them to victory in the 1984 European Championship.

The specialist also coached the French football club "Marseille" (1986-1991) and the Republic of Congo national team (2004-2006).
