Former Paris Saint-Germain player Jerome Rothen claims that Real Madrid were convinced before the coronavirus crisis that Kylian Mbappe would join the team next summer. Rumors that Mbappe is a priority for Real Madrid have been circulating for a long time. According to Rothen, who now works as an analyst, the deal was supposed to happen this summer. "From PSG sources, I know that the Mbappe and Real Madrid deal was almost finalized. However, due to recent events in football, I have no doubt that Mbappe's arrival at Real will be postponed," said the former footballer. Rothen is convinced that PSG will not be able to extend the contract with Mbappe if he decides to stay with the team for another season. "Such a scenario is practically impossible. There is a mutual agreement between them, so PSG gave him permission to leave this summer if conditions allow. I think it's just a matter of time," added the Frenchman.
