Former "Rangers" captain lost the battle against a cunning disease

Former Glasgow Rangers captain Fernando Ricksenas lost his battle with a cunning disease on Wednesday.

The 43-year-old former footballer had been suffering from motor neuron disease (or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) for several years.

F. Ricksenas played for Glasgow club from 2000-2006 and won two Scottish champion titles with them.

The footballer wore the jersey of the Netherlands national team twelve times.

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a severe, incurable, rapidly progressing nervous system disease that affects both the motor neurons in the brain and spinal cord.

In 2015, a documentary film was made about the footballer and his battle with the disease.
