At the Tokyo Olympic Games – Mexico U-23 team secured victory. In Group A of the competition, Mexicans defeated France 4:1. All goals were scored in the second half of the match – E. Vega, F. Codova, C. Antuna and E. Aquirre did not spare the European team's goalkeeper. Little consolation for the representatives of the Old Continent was A.-P. Gignac's penalty kick. In the next match (Group D) Brazil defeated Germany 4:2. Unstoppable in the ranks of the South American team was Richarlison, who scored a hat-trick within the first 30 minutes.
