The match was marked not only by an unbelievable result but also by Kylian Mbappe's anniversary goal. Scoring a hat-trick, the striker marked his 300th career goal. He also provided three assists.

Olivier Giroud, coming off the bench in the second half, scored two goals. Kingsley Coman also scored a brace. Youssouf Fofana, Ousmane Dembele, Adrian Rabiot, Jonathan Clauss, Marcus Thuram, and Warren Zaire-Emery each added one goal, with Zaire-Emery suffering an injury during the goal.

"Les Blues" improved their record. In 1995, they managed to beat Azerbaijan by a margin of 10 goals.
