Frank Lampard, who failed the first test: "Opponents did not forgive us for our mistakes"

Frank Lampard's official debut at the helm of London's Chelsea turned into a real nightmare - the "Blues" started their Premier League appearance in England with a crashing defeat.

The Chelsea team, starting the match at Old Trafford stadium, played too comfortably in their penalty area and "suffered" four goals from the Manchester United team - 0:4.

After the match, F. Lampard claimed it was a reality check.

"We still don't have several important players, but that should not be an excuse," - started the coach. - "The team that was on the field today is capable of competing at this level of matches and did so for most of the game. However, we made four mistakes, and the opponents were ruthless and took full advantage of them."

"Man Utd" is a counter-attacking team, that's their main strength. They have fast players who can turn every loss of our ball into an opportunity.

For most of the game, we did not give them this advantage. We were the ones who were quick to win the ball back, but our passes in the penalty area were quite poor.

In the first half, we felt quite comfortable, so there is definitely something to learn from this game. We cannot make such mistakes when playing at this level," - added F. Lampard.

On Wednesday, the Chelsea team will face another test - the "Blues" will compete against Liverpool for the UEFA Super Cup.
