Playing for Bayern Munich club, Franck Ribery has decided to end his career in the French national team.
We will no longer see the 31-year-old winger wearing the "Les Bleus" jersey in the future. The footballer announced his decision on Wednesday.
F. Ribery missed this summer's World Cup in Brazil due to a back injury.
"I am leaving," the Frenchman said. "I realized that the right moment has come to withdraw."
"It is a personal decision. I want to dedicate more time to my family and the Bayern Munich club. I will also make room for young players who can break into the national team," he added.
"You have to know when you want to leave. I have experienced a lot with the national team and it is time to make way for others. During the World Cup, we saw that there is no need to worry about the future of the French national team. With the national team, there were ups and downs, but it's time for a new stage in life," said F. Ribery.
Playing for the French national team, a member of Bayern Munich club has played 81 matches and scored 16 goals during his career.
