French national team and Bayern Munich's fullback Franck Ribery stated that he will participate for the last time in this year's World Cup.
In the final stage of the championship, the 31-year-old footballer will compete for the third time. In 2006, the French lost to the Italians in the final after an 11-meter penalty shootout, and in 2010, they faced a fiasco and failed to pass the group stage.
In the next championship, in 2018, Ribery will be 35 years old and the fullback himself announced that he will no longer participate in that tournament.
"This championship will be my last. We have to come and show something, the goal is to win the championship," said Ribery.
The French national team will compete in Group E with the national teams of Switzerland, Honduras, and Ecuador.
