From a hero of the match to a nobody. This is how Madrid "Atletico" forward Fernando Torres described himself after the first UEFA Champions League quarterfinal match.
The 32-year-old Spaniard scored a goal and gave his team the advantage against the visiting "Barcelona", but ultimately earned his second yellow card and was sent off the field.
The Catalans took advantage of the situation and defeated the visitors 2:1 in the second half.
"This is one of the worst days of my career. I regret having to leave the team to play in a minority," Torres lamented after the game.
"I feel responsible for the team not achieving victory and I am convinced that with 11 players we would have performed completely differently.
However, I am proud to represent 'Atletico', and the final result is not entirely bad. Anything is possible in our stadium," the veteran reassured.
