Futsal A League debutant leader L. Sipavicius: "I liked the attitude of" Hegelmann "leaders © Hegelmann

The debutant of the Futsal A League, the Kaunas district "Hegelmann" club, earned a point against Vilkaviskis "Bruklinas" in a tumultuous match last weekend.

Despite a good start, the Kaunas team later found themselves in a trailing role, and after substituting the goalkeeper with the fifth outfield player and Lukas Sipavicius getting angry almost from the middle of the court, the result became equal.

"Since we had already played friendly matches against the 'Bruklinas' team, we knew how they play, which players the game revolves around. In addition, the coach additionally analyzed the opponents' weak points, knew that we could really play, we tried to surprise the opponents with pressing, which worked out quite well.

Talking about the equalizing goal - I felt that I had caused trouble for the team, making mistakes accordingly as the fifth and especially sixth in front of the opponents, after which we conceded the fourth goal. I felt that I needed to take the initiative, evaluated the situation before receiving the ball, that I would definitely make a shot, and as it turned out, it turned out", shared L. Sipavicius with memories.

A couple of years ago, L. Sipavicius, who represented Jonava's "Vikings" and the Lithuanian national futsal team at the World Championship, drew interest from "Kaunas Zalgiris". The footballer accepted the offer of the multiple national champions, but his career did not work out in that club. At that time, he decided to join the "Hegelmann" ranks.

"After the season, I decided that I needed more playing time, good conditions for improvement, and a good training process. Most of the A League teams cannot offer this today. In addition, I liked the approach of the 'Hegelmann' leaders and the whole organizational structure. Before the season, I had to train with the 'Vikings', so I have someone to compare with. I think that due to the processes taking place in the team and looking towards the future, 'Hegelmann' is a club with a greater perspective", commented the footballer on his decision.

- However, in indoor football, 'Hegelmann' is a new creation. How was the team built?

- We had little time, the choice of futsal players in Lithuania is not big, considering that all outdoor football championships are still ongoing. Of course, it was not easy to assemble a completely new team. However, we have a good coach who worked hard and built the team.

- In the first matches of the season, you received very painful lessons (0:10) from 'Kaunas Zalgiris'. Wasn't it scary that after such a start the young players would lose heart?

- It wasn't scary at all. It's actually better to start the season with strong opponents and see where you need to work. The team didn't get too discouraged because we knew who we were playing against. It's important to understand that for most of our players, this was their debut in the futsal A League.

- What kind of 'Hegelmann' club will we see in the near future and as the season's end approaches?

- I think that nobody will take away the fighting spirit we have already shown, and since we have a coach with great experience who can help players adapt to indoor football, I believe that with time, step by step, match after match, we will only get better.

- What is your personal goal?

- My personal goal is to reach optimal form, help my team mates adapt, and together surprise yet another opponent.
