This Saturday marks the start of the 2024 Lithuanian "TopSport Futsal A League" playoff matches, where the teams that occupied the first eight places in the regular season will compete for four spots in the semifinals. The format remains unchanged from last year - a team must defeat their opponent twice to achieve victory.

Interestingly, the regular season ended with matches between these two teams. Although Kaunas won by just 3:2, they are clear favorites in the series. The multiple national champions only lost once throughout the season and do not intend to repeat that mistake in the playoff matches.
"We will definitely be prepared. The last match against them showed that we cannot relax at all and think it will be easy. So we will strive to be in our best form. If we play our game, follow the coach's plan, I believe we will finish the series in two matches," said Kaunas Žalgiris captain Justinas Zagurskas.
Debutants this season from Kėdainiai had a rather turbulent season, so finishing in the eighth place and reaching the quarterfinals with Kaunas Žalgiris was not the most desirable outcome for the club. However, before the start of the series, the Kėdainiai team is not raising the white flag just yet.
"The spirits are high, we will fight and play to the end. We had several training sessions this week, we will try to surprise our opponents. We believe we deserved higher places than the eighth. We gained valuable experience this season, and it will be useful for us in the future. Although we are newcomers, we have shown that we can compete with all opponents. Kaunas Žalgiris is the favorite of this series, but we have our chances. As they say, the ball is round. Besides, I think whoever becomes the winners of this series, it's realistic that they will also become Lithuanian champions," joked Egidijus Žagaras, the goalkeeper of Kėdainiai United, selected as the best player of the month in this season.
