“Kauno Žalgiris” team will play their final regular season match this weekend. On February 11th, at 7 p.m., the team will face “Kėdainiai United” at Kaunas Sports Hall.

In the TopSport Futsal A League regular season, “Kauno Žalgiris” team has been holding the first place for some time now. With 48 points, 16 wins, and only 1 loss, the team from Kaunas has become the winners of this year's regular season.

In their first encounter, “Kauno Žalgiris” defeated “Kėdainiai United” with a score of 6:0. The last regular season match will have an impact on the final position of the Kėdainiai team, so according to the captain of the Kaunas team, Justinas Zagurskas, the teams will meet “not just to wander around.”

"Our attitude for the weekend match is always good and competitive. We go onto the field to fight for victory, to demonstrate an even better game than in previous matches. This always remains our main goal. We expect a tough battle, as the final round means a lot to our opponents, so I think they will give their all in this match," said the team captain.

“Kauno Žalgiris” goalkeeper Ernestas Macenis mentioned that during every game, the mutual understanding among players is crucial, without which it would be difficult to compete against other teams.

"Sometimes you can see that players on the field do not agree on what standard to execute, but everyone knows each other's actions perfectly. It is enough to see with a glimpse of your eye that you are free and you will always receive a pass from your teammate. Playing in such a team is a pleasure," the goalkeeper talked about teamwork.

E. Macenis also mentioned that a crucial part of every victorious game is good communication between goalkeepers and the field players. In order to avoid mistakes and opponents' goals, according to E. Macenis, the goalkeeper should not talk too much in the field and should only say what would help the team during the game.

"Goalkeepers have the best view of the field and they should help their teammates by advising on where to position themselves, where their opponent is, whether a player has support, and so on. If you shout out irrelevant information that can harm the defense and the game, you may lose the trust of your teammates, which can lead to errors and unwanted mistakes," the Žalgiris player discussed about the goalkeeper's job.

On Sunday, at Kaunas Sports Hall, Žalgiris will play their final regular season match, where the team will await the support of their fans.

"Fans always lead us forward. Lately, there have been more fans at our matches, showing that we are more interesting to people. I think those good team results give us that impetus for fans to come. We always look forward to the support of our fans and we want as many of them as possible to gather and support us at Kaunas Sports Hall!" said J. Zagurskas about the support.
