On Sunday evening, one of the last matches of the 22nd round of the Spanish "Primera" league was played.
Lithuanian national team goalkeeper Giedrius Arlauskis had the opportunity to debut at the "Santiago Bernabeu" stadium. The team he represented, Barcelona's "Espanyol", had to admit defeat to Madrid's "Real" with a score of 6-0.
These were Arlauskis' debut matches not only against "Real", but also in the Spanish championship. The goalkeeper, who belongs to the "Watford" club, became the third Lithuanian to play in the "Primera" league.
Arlauskis managed to keep a clean sheet only until the seventh minute. James Rodriguez's excellent pass from the right created an opportunity for forward Karim Benzema, who became the first player to defeat Arlauskis in Spain.
After a successful start, Zinedine Zidane's pupils were unstoppable, and in the 12th minute, Arlauskis had to face Cristiano Ronaldo, who successfully converted an 11-meter penalty. Four minutes later, J. Rodriguez scored another goal after a "ricochet".
At the end of the first half, the same C. Ronaldo put the final point demonstrating a great raid and sending the entire "Espanyol" defense into disarray with a powerful shot.
In the next 45 minutes, the visitors from Barcelona played more successfully and did not concede a goal until the 82nd minute. C. Ronaldo scored the fifth goal for the team after a precise pass from Jese Rodriguez towards Arlauskis' goal, making it a "hat-trick" for the Portuguese player.
The final point was set in the 86th minute when Oscar Duarte, who appeared as a substitute on the pitch and also made his debut for "Espanyol" today, scored an own goal.
After the victory, "Real" approached the second-placed Madrid "Atletico" by one point, but they are still separated by 4 points from the leaders "Barcelona".
Another match ended with a surprising defeat for Vigo's "Celta" to "Las Palmas" players.
