This season, the best Lithuanian footballer Giedrius Arlauskis, guarding the gates of Bucharest's "Steaua", will definitely not stay in Romania. In an interview given to 15min.lt, the goalkeeper confirmed that he has already signed a contract with a new club.
The Romanian newspaper "Gazeta Sporturilor" announces that Arlauskis will move to the "Premier" league, where he will guard the gates of "Watford", who finished second in the "Championship" division this season. On the other hand, the player does not want to reveal his future workplace.
"It is true that I have already signed the future contract, but I will not disclose what club it is yet. You will find out everything in about a week," Arlauskis told 15min.
"There comes a time when you want to taste the highest level of football. I will definitely not regret leaving Romania for this country and the football played there. That's the life of a professional athlete. I am at an age where I can still hang on and play top-level football. I must take advantage of this opportunity," the goalkeeper continued to talk about his departure from Romania.
Arlauskis would become only the second Lithuanian ever to play in the English championship. Former national team captain Tomas Danilevičius has played a few matches in London's "Arsenal" ranks, but he has not stayed in the "Gunners" team, and is even considered one of Arsène Wenger's most unusual purchases by many fans.
