According to Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon, his team does not belong to the European elite because they do not have such unstoppable snipers as Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo.
Bianconeri have been dominating in the Italian championship for three years in a row, but they still struggle to make significant progress in international competitions.
The Turin team reached the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday by finishing second in their group. This means that they could potentially face teams like Real Madrid, Barcelona, or Bayern Munich.
Despite the excellent form shown by Carlos Tevez this season, Buffon still believes that coach Massimiliano Allegri needs another consistent goal scorer.
"Juventus, like other teams that have not won the Champions League, lacks one thing: we do not have Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi," the Italian told AS.
"They bring so much to their teams. They can make a difference even when things seem to be going in the worst direction."
"You could say that when they play, you start with a 1-0 lead. That is a huge advantage."
Juventus currently lead the Serie A league and are ahead of Roma, who are in second place, by only three points after 14 matches.
