G. Gattuso: "We deserved to be thrown out of the Europa League"

"Milan" team on Thursday evening suffered the most painful blow of the season - the legendary Italian team was eliminated from the UEFA Europa League by the victorious "Olympiakos" team with a score of 3:1 in Piraeus.

"Olympiakos" triumphed in front of their fans with a 3:1 result. In the first match in Milan, the "rossoneri" won by the same score, but with both teams collecting the same points, the better goal difference of the Greeks in the group stage determined their advancement to the quarterfinals.

After the match, Gennaro Gattuso admitted that the team did not deserve to go any further with such performance.

"We feel a huge disappointment. First of all, we must remember that we disappointed millions of "Milan" club fans in this tournament," said G. Gattuso.

"We had the match in our hands, but when you create about eight good chances and none of them turn into goals, it's impossible to resist in such a stadium, that's why we fully deserve to go home.

We showed that we are not capable enough to hold on in matches where we had a chance to do so. It's true that there were many controversial referee decisions in the match, but we didn't take advantage of our opportunities in such an atmosphere, where it's easy to make mistakes after your own errors.

We didn't deserve to go to the next stage. We simply gifted the match to our opponents. The most important thing was not to let the opponents play their football, and we allowed them to do so. I think our problem today was a lack of experience," added the coach, whose future at the "Milan" club hangs by a thread.
