FIFA president Gianni Infantino did not spare praises for Russia in a special press conference for hosting the historic 2018 World Cup.
This weekend will mark the end of a month-long World Cup that raised many doubts before the start of the tournament. However, Russia did not disappoint in terms of organization - no major incidents were recorded.
"This is an extraordinary and incredibly wonderful World Cup. I would like to thank everyone who contributed to this event. I was waiting to see the best World Cup in history with my own eyes, and it happened - I became a witness to such an event," - praised the FIFA president.
"There was everything here - a lot of good football, emotions, and passions. My words are confirmed by simple statistics - 98 percent of stadium seats were filled for every match, a million fans visited Russia, and almost a billion people watched these competitions on TV.
In the final, we expect similar numbers, which are six times larger than the "Super Bowl" event shown on TV. 11 million people watched us online, 7 million in fan zones. These are unbelievable numbers," - concluded G. Infantino.
