Geoffrey Kondogbia told journalists that last summer, before leaving Sevilla and moving to Monaco, he spoke with representatives of Real Madrid.
The 21-year-old midfielder had arrived at the Sevilla team in 2012 from Lens and immediately played an excellent debut season in Spain.
Kondogbia's football displayed at that time caught the eye of Monaco's management and he had to move to France for 20 million euros, but the player himself revealed that he also received interest from Real Madrid at that time.
"It's true, I spoke with a few people working there. Very important people in the club," the Frenchman told Canal Plus.
"We had a lot of contact, but we didn't come close to signing a contract."
"Could I ever go there? No, that's not my dream. At this moment, I want to focus on the present."
The French vice-champions are currently preparing for Tuesday's UEFA Champions League match against Zenit St. Petersburg.
To advance to the next stage, Leonardo Jardim's players must secure at least one point, as a victory for Zenit would mean Monaco saying goodbye to the tournament quarterfinals.
