Argentinian national team coach Gerardo Martino says that his team lacked only luck to triumph in the "Copa America" tournament and the trophy should have been lifted by the Argentinians last night.
Last summer, after falling in the World Cup final, this year the "Albiceleste" lost the decisive tournament match to the hosts from Chile in a penalty shootout.
"We didn't play as usual, but Chile didn't show their usual game either," - said the coach after the match. "Both teams were more successful in stopping the opponent's attacks than creating their own. Argentina didn't create many chances, but Chile didn't create many either."
"I think both teams tried very hard to neutralize each other. We played against a team that had scored the most goals in the tournament, and here they didn't create any dangerous moments."
"It was a mutual struggle. So, it is really unfair to talk about Argentina not showing their usual football without paying attention to the fact that Chile also didn't play as always."
"We controlled their players in the middle of the field. We stopped Valdivia and Alexis Sanchez. I considered Chile a great team from the very first day, but if you ask about today's match, I think Argentina should have won."
