Since adolescence, Gabrielius Micevičius from the football academy "Šiauliai" will wear yellow and black socks next year.
The promising 20-year-old, who is becoming stronger in the team from the City of the Sun, has signed a new contract.
G. Micevičius is one of the few academy graduates who has been representing the main city team since 2020, when the latter was still playing in the "Optibet First League". This year, the player, who received more trust from the coaching staff, played the best season of his career.
This year, Gabrielius, defending the honor of "Šiauliai", was called up to the Lithuanian Under-21 national team, and while wearing the socks representing the City of the Sun, he played a total of 34 matches, scored 5 goals, and made 2 assists. Furthermore, the defender, originating from Šeduva, this year was once again a contender for the "Optibet A League" best young player award.
This year, the footballer marched with the people of Šiauliai to the final of the LFF Cup and adorned himself with historic bronze medals of the "Optibet A League".
"I am glad to have connected my future with the organization where I grew up and developed, I would say, from a young age. Thanks to this academy, I grew up not only as a footballer but also as a person, so I am very grateful to it for that. This season was memorable not only for me but also for the whole team, which I am extremely proud of. I hope that the next season will be even more successful for us than this year, and we will continue to have a core supported by Lithuanians in the team," said G. Micevičius, who signed a new contract.
