Former long-time Barcelona defender Gerard Pique has come under the scrutiny of law enforcement.
ESPN reports that the 37-year-old Spaniard's company, "Kosmos," was involved in brokering a deal between the Spanish Football Federation and the Saudi Arabian authorities to move the Spanish Super Cup tournament to this country.
According to the statement, G. Pique's company receives a bonus of 4 million euros each year for the tournament, which is suspected to be illegal.
Initially, "Kosmos" agreed with the Spanish Football Federation on annual bonuses until 2025, but later this term was extended for another four years.
Interestingly, the agreement between Saudi Arabia and the Spanish Football Federation took place in 2019, when G. Pique was still playing for the Barcelona team
