The new season started unsuccessfully for the "Barcelona" club - the Catalans lost with a joint result of 1:5 to their eternal rivals from Madrid and failed to win the Spanish Super Cup.
After the return match against "Real" at the home club, defender Gerard Pique expressed his frustration:
"This period is not the best for our club. We should not drift apart from each other and move forward.
We must acknowledge this failure and the fact that "Real" was better than us. The season is long and we still have opportunities to improve.
This is the first time in nine years that I feel that we are weaker than the Madrid team," said the defender.
