Yesterday in France, Spain's dominance in the Old Continent came to an end. The Spaniards coached by Vicente Del Bosque were defeated by Italy in the quarterfinals of the European Championship and withdrew from the tournament.
Spanish national team's center-back Gerard Pique, after the defeat with a score of 0-2, stated that the team is no longer at a good level.
"We did not want to stop, but we stumbled upon a difficult path," G. Pique mentioned about the challenging quarterfinals. "One of the reasons for the defeat is that we were not at a good enough level."
"Many factors came together - the level of the players and many other things. I told the team after losing to Georgia that we won't be favorites. I think we are no longer one of the best.
We have excellent players, but we are not at a good enough level to win trophies again," G. Pique added.
