Suddenly deciding to retire from football, the athlete also waived all financial claims to the team.
The player's current contract with "Barca" was valid until mid-2024 and guaranteed him a very solid income.
As various Spanish journalists report, G. Pique's decision to hang up his boots will help the "La Liga" team save (including taxes) up to 30 million euros.
Last year, the 35-year-old defender agreed to reduce his salary, but he was still one of the highest-earning club footballers.
