England's World Cup group stage did not go well - they lost the last match to Belgium and remained in second position.
However, both the Belgians and the English did not take these matches seriously - almost all substitutes were on the field. After the match, Gareth Southgate did not hide his disappointment that they failed to win, but did not panic.
"It was a match we wanted to win, but knowing that the most important stage of the tournament is still ahead of us, we had to give rest to our key players," the coach said.
"The players on the field did everything to win. We saw the level of all players and know that we have room for improvement.
"We tried to press our opponents until the end of the match. Hopefully the fans understand that the most important matches are still ahead of us," added G. Southgate.
In the round of 16, which will take place on Tuesday, England will face Colombia.
