England's national team coach Gareth Southgate urges UEFA to adopt an important rule, in his opinion.
As the 2024 European Championship approaches inexorably, the continent's officials are considering what size squad the team will be able to take to the football feast.
In the 2020 European and 2022 World Championships, it was allowed to register up to 26 footballers.
However, after the end of the coronavirus pandemic, there is talk of returning to the previous rule and allowing coaches to include three fewer athletes.
According to the English media, such a change would be disadvantageous for the "Three Lions" team, which has many tired footballers among its ranks, and there is a threat of potential injuries hanging over them.
This opinion was also supported by G. Southgate:
"It would definitely be difficult to cope with 23 players. It is fortunate that another UEFA meeting is coming up, during which there will be an opportunity to take into account the coaches' opinion and increase this number.
We have to make the best decisions, knowing that it is also related to health."
