Gianfranco Zola admitted that his dream is to become the coach of Chelsea, but the Italian understands that he needs to improve significantly in order to be able to come and work at Stamford Bridge stadium.
The Italian, who scored 80 goals in 312 matches for Chelsea during his career, has been a coach for West Ham and Watford, and now works for the Qatari team Al Arabi.
"My dream and goal is to become the coach of Chelsea one day. However, I understand that I need to improve my skills as a strategist to get there. And I am really working hard to achieve this goal. Qatar is helping me a lot in this matter. I am just trying to make my team play the football I imagine. I have already laid the groundwork for this while working at Al Arabi and I believe that in the future you will see the results," Zola told Sky Sports.
Current Chelsea coach Jose Mourinho is under huge pressure after the defeat against Liverpool on Saturday and experiencing an eighth loss in all competitions this season, the aristocrats are currently in 15th place in the Premier League.
"The club has everything to achieve good results. A good performance in the Champions League against Dynamo Kiev and a few victories in the Premier League would fix everything.
It is difficult to find a reason for such a poor start by the London club. However, the team is certainly not helped by the poor form of Eden Hazard and Diego Costa. Defensively, the team also does not look as good as last year, so the players have lost confidence in their abilities, which has brought poor results," the Italian commented on Chelsea's failures.
Obviously, although no one considers Zola a serious candidate to take over as Chelsea coach, the strategist himself is determined to be among the candidates in the future to replace Jose Mourinho.
