UEFA has decided that Istanbul's "Galatasaray" club will have to pay 50 thousand euros for the damage caused by Turkish fans to London's "Arsenal" stadium.
The teams met in the Champions League match on the first day of October, and the Turkey team fans, who saw their team lose 4-1, caused trouble in the "Emirates" stands. Not to mention the objects thrown onto the field, part of the seats were broken in the visitors' fan section. "Galatasaray" has been given thirty days to contact the representatives of the London club regarding compensation for the damage.
"Arsenal" was also accused of poor organization and lack of supervision during the match, but UEFA decided not to punish the English team.
In addition to the Turkish runners-up, several other participants in international tournaments will have to pay fines. "Basel" will have to pay 40 thousand euros for throwing objects onto the field, Rotterdam's "Feyenoord" and Liege's "Standard" have been fined 15 and 17 thousand euros respectively for allowing fireworks.
Also, a 10 thousand euro fine has been imposed on the Andorran Football Federation for failing to ensure security at the match against the Wales team. And the fans who invaded the field will also have to pay a 5 thousand euro fine themselves.
