Gargždai's "Banga" in the 10th round of the "TOPsport A lyga" presented one of the most unexpected results this season. The residents of Gargždai managed to defeat the "Kauno Žalgiris" who had previously won three consecutive victories with a score of 3:0 (2:0).
David Afonso's team's start to the match was fantastic. In the 2nd minute, Carlos Eduardo took a corner kick, and his compatriot Antonio Lara headed the ball into the goal.
It wasn't over: after 4 minutes, Valdas Paulauskas scored for the third consecutive match. A penalty kick from Palanga after a rough mistake by Ignas Plūkas turned into a goal.
The "Kauno Žalgiris" had several very good opportunities to get back into the game, but goalkeeper Mantas Bertašius repelled several dangerous attacks. Once Filipas Dangubičius directed the ball towards the empty goal, however, the "Banga" defender defended against this attack.
The "Banga" further solidified their advantage after the break. In the 63rd minute, C. Eduardo scored another header from a lifted corner kick. This was the first defeat for head coach Nerijus Mačiulio while at the helm of "Kauno Žalgiris."
The "Banga" with 14 points rose to 4th place, while the residents of Kaunas with one point less are in fifth place.
