Gargždų 'Banga' started the season with a victory against Kaunas district 'Hegelmann' club.

In the first round of the "TOPsport A Lyga," a repeat of last year's Lithuanian Football Cup final took place. Gargždų "Banga" proved their superiority at home, defeating Kauno rajono "Hegelmann" with a score of 2:0 (1:0).

At the very start of the match, the home team played more actively – Nouri El Harmazi shook the goalpost, and one of Maksimas Andrejevas's attempts, following a pass from Rokas Filipavičius, turned into a goal. During the rest of the first half, the players from Gargždai focused more on defense, which the guests, thanks to Mantas Bertašius, could not break through.

In the 51st minute, "Banga" doubled their lead when Hugo Figueredo, breaking through on the left flank, sent the ball towards Aivars Emsis after the opponent's rebound, and he took advantage of the inattentive opponent's defense and scored. Just after a few moments, the Latvian had another chance, but this time Arijus Bražinskas defended his team.

After playing for just over an hour, the guests defended against a quick attack and Pijus Srėbaliaus's shot, and A. Bražinskas also saved another shot from A. Emsis. At the end of the match, Donatas Kazlauskas shot from outside the penalty area; however, M. Bertašius kept the goals "dry."

In the first round of the "TOPsport A Lyga," David Afonso's team fought for their first victory, with goals scored by M. Andrejevas and A. Emsis. The match also saw the debut of 17-year-old home player Justinas Juozapavičius.
