After a dramatic UEFA Champions League quarter-final match in Munich, Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon urged his teammates not to give up.
Turin's Juventus had surged ahead 2-0, but the hosts managed to equalize and extend the game into extra time, where the Italians didn't stand a chance (2-4).
"This defeat showed that we are better than last season. We leave the tournament with our heads held high," said the veteran.
"Football results depend on the opportunities created. In the second half, the opponents launched many attacks and capitalized on their chances. It's always disappointing to concede a goal in the final minute of the match, but I am proud of my team," Buffon stated.
"It's shameful to exit the tournament in this manner, playing against Bayern, who have excellent footballers.
Before the end of the first half, Juan Cuadrado could have scored a goal and the result would have been 3-0. Alvaro Morata and Stephan Lichtsteiner also missed their chances. We needed to be calmer and capitalize on these opportunities," expressed Juventus coach Massimo Allegri.
