Germans will submit a petition to J. Klinsmann regarding M. Scholl © EuroFootball.com

Protests over the inclusion of Mehmet Scholl in the German national team lineup for the upcoming World Cup in Munich are gaining momentum. 175,000 Germans signed a petition on this issue addressed to the national team coach Jürgen Klinsmann. The petition is called "Scholl for Germany." Two students, Frank Enders and Sebastian Glemser, the authors of this idea, will present the petition with 175,000 signatures requesting the inclusion of M. Scholl in the team to J. Klinsmann on Friday. J. Klinsmann will announce the names of the 23 players who will represent the national team three days later on May 15th. Scholl himself does not expect to be included in the German national team lineup, as last month J. Klinsmann said that there was no place for the Bayern player in the national team. Scholl is the first player of Turkish descent to represent Germany. He has played 36 matches for the national team. Last month, Scholl was not included in the preliminary squad of thirty players for the German national team, to which J. Klinsmann said: "We are pleased with his performances at Bayern in recent weeks, but our goal is to have a group of 28-30 equally skilled players."
