The head coach of the German national team, Joachim Low, has extended his contract with the country's football federation and will remain at the helm of the team for another two years.

As we reported at the beginning of the week, the new coach's contract will be valid until the summer of 2016.

J. Low took over as head coach in 2006 from Jurgen Klinsmann. With the German team, the coach reached the final of the European Championship in 2008, and in 2010 and 2012 respectively, he reached the semifinals of the World Cup and the European Championship.

At 53, the coach has achieved 68 victories out of 99 matches played while leading the German national team.

In November, the team will play its 100th match with J. Low at the helm when Germany meets Italy in a friendly match in Milan.

"I enjoy working with the team and colleagues, and I am motivated enough to lead this team forward," said the coach.

"We are not at the end of our journey and we have set many goals that we want to achieve," said J. Low.
