Former Argentine national team member Gabriel Heinze is convinced that Lionel Messi will end his career not at Barcelona, but in his hometown.
The 36-year-old defender believes that before the end of his career, L. Messi will return to his childhood club "Newell's Old Boys." The four-time world's best footballer played in the academy of the mentioned club for five years during his youth.
"Messi will end his career at 'Newell's Old Boys' club and we won't need to urge him," Heinze told journalists. "I can't imagine him wearing the jersey of another club in Argentina."
"I played very few matches in Argentina and never thought about finishing my career in my homeland. However, the last few years spent in the 'Newell's Old Boys' team were the best of my life," the defender concluded.
Both G. Heinze and L. Messi began their careers at the Rosario city team.
