Former Italy national team coach Giovanni Trapattoni is returning to Germany. He will coach the team next season. In this position, he will replace Matthias Sammer.
According to a statement from the SID sports agency, the 66-year-old Italian has signed a two-year contract with the Stuttgart club. This will be Trapattoni's third job in Germany throughout his coaching career. Previously, he coached in Munich twice.
Trapattoni stepped down as head coach of Lisbon at the end of May, after this club won their first Portuguese champions title in the last 11 years.
