In the eighth-finals of the Spanish "Copa del Rey" trophy, "Girona" defeated Madrid's "Rayo Vallecano" club with a score of 3:1 at home.

Catalans scored goals in the 15th and 19th minutes with a double by Uruguayan Christian Stuani. In the 26th minute, defender Daley Blind made it 3-0. In the 36th minute, "Rayo" player Randy Nteka scored a goal.
