Participation of "Girona" in the next season of the Champions League is partly hanging by a thread.
ESPN reports that the Catalan club is waiting for a verdict from UEFA. They have connections with the "Manchester City" club.
"City Group", who are the main shareholders of "Manchester City", are also the main shareholders of "Girona" club. They control 47% of the shares, and the closest shareholder, Marcelo Claure, has 35% of the shares.
Therefore, "City Group" will have to sell 7% of the shares to M. Claure or 13% of the shares to another participant.
According to UEFA rules, two teams with the same person or company as the main shareholder cannot participate in the same Champions League tournament. This problem may also arise in the future for Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who owns both "Nice" and "Manchester United" clubs.
