Yesterday, the "Girona" football players unexpectedly surprised football fans throughout Catalonia by defeating the stars of Madrid's "Real" team.
Goals from Cristiano Stuani and Portu allowed them to equalize the lead given to their opponents by Isco and extend the victory with a score of 2-1.
This victory became historic as it ended an impressive streak of wins for the "royal" club as visitors - until now, the capital's team had won 13 times in a row in the opponents' stadiums, which was a record achievement.
Also, "Girona's" victory in the struggle for the "La Liga" title allowed the "Barcelona" team to feel even more at ease, as they are already leading their main competitors by eight points.
It is interesting to note that "Girona" became the first Catalan representative to defeat "Real" since 2007, outdoing even "Barca." This achievement was previously accomplished by Barcelona's "Espanyol" team, coached by the current "blaugrana" manager Ernesto Valverde.
