One of the leaders this season Liudovicas Giuly stated that he will most likely play for the Spanish vice-champions club next season.

The 27-year-old Frenchman wanted to stay at Monaco, with which he reached the UEFA Champions League final this season, but was shocked by the new contract terms - Monaco offered him only a two-year contract, which included a requirement to reduce the player's salary by 20%.

"I have decided to leave the club," Giuly told the French newspaper "France football". "Monaco offered me a contract that did not satisfy me, so now I want to play for Barca.

"I have already agreed on all the terms of the contract, so I hope that everything will be clarified in the near future and I will be able to sign a three-year contract with this superclub," continued the Frenchman.

Barca offered 5 million euros (about 17.5 million litas) for Giuly to the French club, but Monaco is not satisfied with this amount and is trying to negotiate better conditions.

As a possible addition to the deal, the young Barcelona Portuguese player Ricardo Quaresma is mentioned, who, according to Monaco representatives, would be an ideal replacement for Giuly.
