Arsene Wenger is bluffing or going all in at the bank?
On Monday evening it was revealed that the team delegation includes Dutchman Robin van Persie, who, as previously announced, has suffered an injury.
The head coach of the London team spoke mysteriously about the footballer's chances of taking to the field in the UEFA Champions League return match.
"I decided to include R. van Persie in the squad for the match. Yes, he was injured, but his condition has significantly improved over the past three days," the coach said at a press conference.
According to the strategist, on Monday the team doctors once again checked the Dutchman's health, which provided additional optimism. However, the final decision will be made on the eve of the match, on Tuesday.
"I know people will say it's some trick, but somehow I'm good at what they call "mind games". R. van Persie will only play if he's fully ready," the Frenchman evaded a direct answer.
Wenger admitted that what worries him the most is the ability of "Barcelona" players to press aggressively throughout the field, so, according to the coach, analyzing the opponent's playing subtleties will not harm his team.
The return leg of the UEFA Champions League round of 16 will be played on Tuesday evening at the Camp Nou stadium in Barcelona. The first leg between both teams ended with an "Arsenal" victory of 2-1.
