The 12th round match between "Kauno Žalgiris" and Gargždai "Bangos" will remain in the memory of Kaunas team goalkeeper Deividas Mikelionis for a long time. For the 25-year-old Kaunas native, this was his 100th match in the A League wearing "Kauno Žalgiris" colors. D. Mikelionis became the first footballer in the history of "Kauno Žalgiris" who managed to achieve such a milestone wearing the team's colors. Just 23 matches in the 2017 season, the player played wearing the Klaipėda "Atlantas" jersey - back then he played for the seaside team on loan. "I am very happy that I was able to play so many matches. It is a great achievement for me. I am happy to play in my city's team and give my all. I would like to play as many as possible," - the Žalgiris.lt player said after the match. In order to reach this milestone, D. Mikelionis had to play at least 10 matches this season. He managed to do that only in the second half of the season. "It's nice that we reached that number. I watched and knew that I could achieve it this season and it's nice that it happened," - the team's veteran rejoices. However, the pleasant moment was spoiled for the player himself and for the entire "Kauno Žalgiris" team by the result of the lost match 2-3, breaking their winning streak. "We were losing 0-3, but we showed that we are a strong team. We fought back and even had chances to equalize," - the goalkeeper talked about the match itself. The next match for "Kauno Žalgiris" away will be on August 2 against Vilnius "Žalgiris", and on August 7 at home they will host Marijampolės "Sūduva".
