Greek national team leader Georgios Samaras as a free agent this summer left the Glasgow "Celtic" team and moved to the English "Premier" league.
The 29-year-old footballer signed a two-year contract with the English Championship mid-table team "West Bromwich" and became the ninth purchase of the team led by Alan Irvine.
Regarding a spot in the starting lineup, the player will compete with Ideye Brown, Saido Berahino, and Victor Anichebe.
"We acquired a player with great experience. He participated in the Champions League, World and European Championships, and we received excellent feedback from the 'Celtic' coach Neil Lennon," said A. Irvine.
"We have four different strikers who can be used in various ways. This will give us flexibility, versatility, and the opportunity to protect ourselves from injuries. I am very pleased with the forwards we have now."
G. Samaras scored 73 goals in almost 250 matches for "Celtic". The Greek also represented the "Manchester City" club for two years, which he moved to from the Dutch team "Heerenveen".
