Guardiola: "Barcelona" matches no longer bring me pleasure © EuroFootball.com

Pep Guardiola insists that he made the decision to leave the club because the matches no longer brought him pleasure.

The 41-year-old specialist stepped down after four years during which he won a total of 14 trophies and established himself among Europe's elite coaches.

"I no longer enjoyed the games with Barcelona in the Champions League or in the Spanish championship," Guardiola said in an interview with "Canal 2". "It was very difficult. Being the coach of this team requires an extraordinary amount of energy, so after so much time, you need to step back a little."

The specialist, who plans to settle in New York, did not rule out the possibility of returning to the Catalan club in the future.

"I haven't decided anything, we'll see how things develop. Maybe I'll come back, maybe not. But Barcelona will always remain in my heart, and I will be somewhere nearby," he said.
