During a press conference held before the match of the Spanish King's Cup ("Copa del Rey") against "Almeria," coach Josep Guardiola had to answer questions from journalists about the future contracts of the players.
The media representatives were particularly interested in the negotiations with Dani Alves, Eric Abidal, and Thiago Alcantara's future plans.
"I talked to Dani and told him how I feel. I don't want him to feel unhappy at 'Barca.' If that were to happen, I wouldn't want him in the team. Dani has the right to ask for what he wants, but the club also has the right to agree or not. I just want the Brazilian to be happy either at 'Barca' or somewhere else," Guardiola explained.
The "Barcelona" coach also expressed hope that Abidal will sign a new contract with the Catalan club.
"I hope that Eric will agree to extend the contract. I hope he will do it. Eric is an important player for the team, and the club would like him to continue playing here," the strategist noted.
Guardiola also faced questions about the future plans of Thiago Alcantara. The specialist denied rumors that the player could leave "Barca": "Thiago is not going anywhere. In the upcoming season, he will be promoted to the main team."
