The head coach and his assistant will continue to train the Catalan club. On Wednesday, Josep Guardiola and Tito Vilanova signed a new contract with "Barca", which will be valid until June 30, 2011. Earlier it was announced that the new leader of the Catalan club offered the two coaches six-year contracts, but both Guardiola and Vilanova remained loyal to their beliefs not to sign long contracts. According to Guardiola, a short-term contract gives club leaders more freedom of choice and gives them greater freedom, while coaches just try to do their job well. In the summer of 2008, Guardiola replaced Dutchman Frank Rijkaard in the head coach position and in the last two seasons with the Catalan club won the Spanish championship twice, once the King's Cup, The Spanish and European Super Cups, the Club World Cup and the Champions League. Before that, the Catalan coached "Barcelona B" - the youth academy team of the Catalan club, which immediately entered a higher league.
