One of the best English referees Mark Clattenburg has decided to leave the Premier League and has signed a rather unexpected contract. The 41-year-old football referee, who led the most important European matches last year, has decided to work in Saudi Arabia, which attracts specialists to its country with huge sums of money.
The English football referees' organization has already announced M. Clattenburg's departure, but it has not been specified what specific role he will have in Saudi Arabia.
Former Premier League referee Howard Webb worked as the director of referees at the Saudi Arabian Football Federation, but last week he signed a contract with the MLS in the USA.
M. Clattenburg has not yet announced the exact date when he will leave the Premier League, but in an interview with the Associated Press in December, he revealed that he would like to work outside of England.
Clattenburg refereed the European Championship, Champions League, and FA Cup finals last year.
